The incident unfolded when a state trooper attempted to stop a red Ford Taurus believed to be connected to a shoplifting case. After a brief interaction, the vehicle sped off, leading to a high-speed chase that ultimately ended in a catastrophic crash on Route 322 near the intersection of Chichester Avenue in Upper Chichester Township.
The Victims and the Incident
The victims included 17-year-old Tyjana Motley, who was a pregnant passenger in the backseat of the vehicle. Sadly, both she and her unborn child did not survive the crash. The other three fatalities were Isaiah Miller (20), the driver of the car, Ikeam Rogers (20), and Kalyn Billups (21). Miller, Rogers, and Billups were pronounced dead at the scene, while Tyjana Motley was rushed to Crozer-Chester Medical Center, where emergency measures to save her child were unsuccessful.
The crash occurred after the vehicle attempted to pass another car on the right shoulder, losing control, crossing all lanes of traffic, and colliding with a concrete bridge embankment before catching fire.
